Wade Barnes (Farmers Edge)

Today’s guest is another perfect example of why I started this podcast in the first place. He runs an incredible, high-growth, fast-paced technology company with over 100 employees and offices around the world. They’ve raised venture capital from some of Silicon Valley’s most notorious investors, the same people that funded Google and Facebook, and they’re based right here in Winnipeg. I’m willing to bet that only a tiny fraction of you have ever heard of them before.

Curtis Dery (Powerland)

Today we’re gonna talk to a guy who sells high-tech for a living, and who does it exceptionally well. As VP of Sales, he guided his company through a ten-times growth trajectory, and now he’s setting himself up to do it all again as the CEO of a new venture. I had a ton of fun chatting with him, and I hope you have fun listening.

Mike Linton (Dufresne Group)

I’m a bit biased for today’s guest, seeing as he’s a fellow engineer and an all-around great person. However, he also has an incredibly sharp mind for business, and we got to dig into some nuts and bolts tactical stuff, which I always love. The guy is a CFO for one of Winnipeg’s greatest home-grown success stories, and he’s been attached to it from the beginning so he was able to share some really valuable insights with us about the importance of establishing good processes in a business. I really enjoyed our time together and hope you do too.

Brian Lowes (Mercedes-Benz Winnipeg)

Every growing business experiences the challenge of getting the right leaders on board and aligning their output, but how? There’s not easy answer, but today’s guest seems to have a cleaner take on it than anyone I’ve ever met. I got a lot of value over our conversation and I think you will as well.

Jamie Brown (Frantic Films)

Today’s guest is phenomenal. He and his business partners developed one of the most important companies in our local film production industry, and eventually established offices through North America with hundreds of employees. He’s got some really great advice on how business leaders need to position themselves relative to their competition. I hope you enjoy our conversation.

Lisa Dyck (Cornell Creme)

Today’s guest must have no trouble making friends. She has a degree in ice cream production, and she knows how to use it! Our conversation gets into the nuts and bolts of how she’s built up her ice cream pipeline, from her family farm to the grocery stores to your table. I had a lot of fun, and I hope you do too.

Matthew Corrin (Freshii)

Today’s guest is unique in several respects: he runs a publicly traded company (that he founded), his business uses a franchise model very successfully, and although he is from Winnipeg he’s the first guest I’ve had who isn’t currently based here. I found him to be a very interesting character, and I think you will too.

Trevor Nott (Nott Autocorp)

Today’s guest is pretty impressive. Having worked his way up through the ranks at various car dealerships, he eventually started his own small used car dealership. Ten years later, business is booming, and his name is synonymous with pre-owned luxury vehicles in Winnipeg. And one visit to his showroom will tell you why: the space is perfectly thought out, and the staff are exceptional. Anyway, I really enjoyed our time together, and I hope you do too.

Donavan Robinson (Vantage Studios, Have A Nice Day)

Today’s guest is involved in several businesses. Him and his friends started a marketing agency in college that ended up being bought out by a New York firm. He started a print shop. Then he bought into a night club. Now he also runs a restaurant. The guy is productive. I hope you get something out of our conversation!

Brett Zahari (Bronuts)

Today’s guest runs a donut empire with his family and friends. Well… maybe not an empire, per se, but they are definitely getting there. A few years ago they started up a small donut shop in the Exchange, and they could not keep up with the market’s insatiable demand for tasty donuts. They consistently had lines running out the door and around the block. I hope you enjoy our chat!
